Biography
Beginning
Prof. Dr. Yıldırım Bayazıt has more than 35 years of urology experience, with clinical focus areas including urologic cancers, endourology, stone disease, and laparoscopic urologic surgery. After a long academic career at Çukurova University, he continues his clinical practice at Medical Park Seyhan Hospital.
He was born in Gaziantep and completed his primary and secondary education there. He studied medicine at Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine between 1981 and 1987.
In 1987, he began his urology residency at Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Urology, and became a urology specialist in 1993.
After completing public service at Kilis State Hospital and Gaziantep State Hospital, he returned to Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine in 1995 as a lecturer and was appointed assistant professor in 1996.
His work focused on kidney transplantation, endourology, prostate and stone diseases, and urologic cancers. During this period, he also worked intensively on laparoscopic surgery, which was then newly developing worldwide.
In 2002, he spent seven months at Case Western Reserve University Department of Urology in Cleveland, Ohio, improving his knowledge and experience in laparoscopic surgery and uro-oncology. He became associate professor in 2003 and professor in 2009.
Dr. Bayazıt has authored numerous national and international publications and presentations. After retiring from Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine in 2023, he continued his clinical practice at Medical Park Seyhan Hospital.
